Questions We Are Asked Most

If your question isn't here, ring us on 027 625 7546 or send us a message — we would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

Before you visit

Do I need a consultation before booking a treatment?

+

Only for Méline pigmentation protocols, which have their own dedicated consultation that must be completed before any Méline treatment is booked. Everything else — facials, massage, EXION, HIFU, micro-needling, laser hair removal and pamper packages — can be booked directly. That said, a Comprehensive Skin Consultation is well worth it if you are unsure where to start, as it lets us assess your skin properly and build a plan around it.

What happens in a skin consultation?

+

We photograph your skin under different types of light using the OBSERV device, which shows dehydration, pigmentation, congestion, redness and early signs of ageing beneath the surface. We then work through how lifestyle, stress, nutrition and general health are presenting on your skin, and assess how well your barrier is functioning. You leave with a tailored plan: treatment recommendations in order, home care guidance and a realistic timeframe.

Should I bring my current skincare?

+

Yes, or a list of it. Knowing the ingredients already on your skin helps us avoid irritation when prescribing something new.

How do I prepare for laser hair removal?

+

Shave the treatment area at least 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, tweeze or epilate between treatments — the follicle needs to remain intact for the laser to target it.

Can I book online?

+

Yes. All bookings go through our Timely booking page, and you can also purchase gift vouchers there.

Treatments

How long until I see results?

+

It depends on the treatment. Facials give an immediate glow. EXION and HIFU work by prompting your own collagen production, so results build over weeks — with HIFU continuing to improve for up to twelve months. Home care changes usually show comfort improvements first, then tone and texture, because a skin cell takes around 28 days to reach the surface.

Is there downtime?

+

Most treatments have none. Radiofrequency micro-needling and medical micro-needling involve some redness for a day or two. HIFU may leave mild redness or tenderness temporarily. We will tell you what to expect before you book.

How many treatments will I need?

+

EXION is typically four treatments for the needle-free applicators or three to four for RF micro-needling, then maintenance every six to nine months. HIFU is two treatments eight weeks apart, then maintenance every 9–12 months. Méline pigmentation runs as a structured course. Facials are as often as suits you.

Do you treat men?

+

Yes. Skin health is not gendered, and we treat plenty of men — particularly for pigmentation, sun damage and laser hair removal. The one exception is that we do not offer male Brazilian laser hair removal.

I have sensitive or reactive skin. Can you still treat me?

+

Usually, yes — and often that is exactly why people come to us. Corneotherapy is built around restoring compromised barriers rather than working through them. Sometimes the honest answer is that your barrier needs a few months of settling before an advanced treatment, and we will say so.

Which is right for me, EXION or HIFU?

+

HIFU works on structure — lifting a jawline, tightening a neck. EXION works on skin quality — firmness, texture, hydration and tone. Some clients benefit from both across a year. Your consultation establishes which.

Pricing and payment

Where can I see prices?

+

Our full price list is published on the website, broken down by treatment and by applicator where relevant. Nothing is hidden until you are in the chair.

Is the consultation fee redeemable?

+

The Méline consultation fee is redeemable against your treatment protocol. Ask us about other consultations when you book.

Do you offer payment plans?

+

Yes — we offer Afterpay, so you can spread the cost of a treatment or course. Méline pigmentation courses can also be secured with a 50% deposit, with the balance due at your second peel.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

+

Yes, and they can be purchased online through our Timely page at any time. They are a popular choice for pamper packages.

Products and home care

How many products do I actually need?

+

Four, for most people: a cleanser that suits your skin, one active serum for your main concern, a moisturiser, and sun protection. Four used consistently will do more than twelve used sporadically.

Why can't I buy Dermaviduals online?

+

Dermaviduals is prescription only — each formulation is mixed for one person after a consultation, so it cannot be sold off a shelf. Get in touch and we will prescribe what your skin needs.

What can I buy online?

+

Osmosis retail skincare, the Osmosis MD range and SIMKA, all through our online shop with secure checkout.

What sunscreen should I use in New Zealand?

+

A broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen of at least SPF30 and preferably SPF50+, applied about 20 minutes before you go out and reapplied every two hours. Protection is recommended whenever the UV index is 3 or above, which in the Waikato covers most of the year.
